Middle school can be a hard transition for anyone but at my middle school students and staff strive to be kind and open-minded to each other. Our school serves over 600 students all at different places in their personal and academic lives. I am honored to teach art to almost 300 of these students every school year.
My art classroom is catered to help students feel safe and inspired so they can create at their full potential.
Students come in ready to learn and try new techniques that will challenge them and prepare them for their future. Some of my students love the class so much they helped me create an after school art club that meets once a week in the art room.
Students join the club to explore their personal creative sides in smaller class size with other dedicated artists. In this environment, students get to dream and imagine anything they want to create, which inspires them to keep trying. Funding for a program after school is limited to donations and fundraising.
My Project
A picture is worth a thousand words is the old saying but it would not be worth anything if it was never created. Just like a photographer uses a camera to focus in on a shot, my students focus in on what I can teach and demonstrate for them every day. Our art studio provides many different mediums but not fine art photography.
Many of my students yearn to study photography beyond what their personal phones or tablets can provide.
These students truly have talent that needs to be explored with guidance. I voluntarily use my personal equipment or borrow equipment for classroom and school functions. Using my knowledge and fine art photography experience I hope to create a new medium for students to learn about and explore.
That is why I am reaching out for help to fund a new camera and digital software program that will provide students with knowledge and quality experience of fine art photography. My students deserve to learn how to use a high-quality digital camera whether it be for a personal art project or capturing memories that will last a lifetime. Let’s work together, I will teach them to be visionary photographers if you can help donate towards the tools needed to help them succeed. The real masterpiece is seeing students thrive at something they are truly passionate about. Who knows; you may see their artwork in public someday.
