My students are diverse learners with a magnitude of needs and a variety of learning styles. They come to school everyday depending on me to give them the foundation needed to be successful in life. I foster an environment that allows them to be leaders, as well as compassionate individuals. They are responsible to make positive personal choices, and work as a team, as well as be critical thinkers. They will thrive from having a comfortable environment that will allow them to take risks and learn. Having your own personalized space is invaluable in a classroom. It allows students to flourish in a pleasant and positive environment.

My Project
Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and allows them to choose a spot to work that is best for their own personal needs. The students in my classroom currently pick a spot around the classroom that works best for them. They can choose to work at various tables, on yoga mats, or yoga balls, they can also utilize tabletop desks or clipboards. Making sure students are comfortable is very important to me. Comfort is an essential tool in motivation. As adults when we are comfortable we are more willing to participate, take risks and be engaged in what we are doing, children are the same way. When I started allowing students to choose where they learn best I noticed a huge difference in how engaged they were. Not only the outcome of completed work has improved but also the journey in getting there. My previous students have remarked numerous times that the best part of our classroom or the thing they will remember most was choosing where to complete work in a comfortable space.
The products I have selected will give students more choices to work around the room in comfort.
The chairs and cushions will be easy to move around. They will create comfort as well. The students will be able to create a space for themselves that is an alternative to a typical desk and chair.
I have already witnessed how well this works, so I am hoping additional resources will have an even more positive affect on my students work and demeanor!
