This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach in a low-economic school district with 75% of my students labeled as economically disadvantaged, and 67% at risk of dropping out before graduation. A majority of my students are enrolled in the English Language Learning Program and are in need of more visual ways of being taught to help learn math as they must master difficult concepts that produce high levels of anxiety.

My students are eager to learn and grow in their mathematical journey each and every day; however, our lack of resources limits us.

My Project

My students are involved in the Houston Food Bank Backpack Buddy Program and worry about what to eat for dinner every day when they get home. They shouldn't have to worry about their school supplies.

My project is for composition notebooks to provide to each of my students to have for the 1st day of school.

I am an AVID trained educator, and I firmly believe in teaching organization and college ready skills. I want to teach my children how to capture their math learning using an interactive notebook.
