My students are an amazing group of 46 boys and girls. We have begun our year learning about each other through ice breakers and student involvement activities. This group is working hard to overcome language barriers, socio-economic barriers, and personal differences. They have each accepted that we are doing a kindness challenge this year to make us better people. That is what the world needs!
I am lucky to teach two very unique groups this year: English Language Learners and students on the Autism Spectrum.
I have already witnessed the compassion that students have for each other when overcoming obstacles that other students have (and it’s only day 4)! I cannot wait to see how these students develop into life-long learners.
My Project
As my first year working with English Language Learners (ELLs) and students on the Autism spectrum (ASD), I have learned the importance of meaningful, captivating visuals. Unfortunately, these visuals take an abundance of time and effort to make. With a Cricut, I will be able to cut down on the time needed to make these visuals and allow students to also develop visuals on their own.
I am sure that the visual connections to vocabulary, spelling, and comprehensive skills will benefit all of my students tremendously.
This product would be an amazing asset to student learning in my classroom.
Students will also develop visuals in the classroom which will lead to a first-hand exposure to vocabulary. This will create a connection that enhances the understanding of new language and focus on deeper meaning of words.
