My students are considered special needs. They are low in the areas of reading, writing, and math. In high school, I teach a modified curriculum to them. Throughout high school, they will be working towards a certificate of completion.
Everybody in my class works hard.
With the struggles they overcome, all my students put forth their best effort in order to be successful. Yes, we may not see eye to eye on some things, but we are a family and we get through everything together.
The students work together, which practices great team-building skills! They overcome obstacles when they approach them. By hard work and staying focused, they are superheroes in the making.
My Project
Books are very important when it comes to reading. In my ELA class, students look forward to reading and following along from our classroom novel! They follow along as I read aloud. This project will help supply enough books for each student. With a student having their own book, they can follow along and have their own instead of sharing.
With these books, students will be able to choose from a variety of books that interest them and will be with their skill level!
Choosing a book from their own interest will motivate them to read or follow along as I read. When the students follow along, they improve their word recognition and comprehension skills. These are all important pieces to the reading component.
