My Students
Instilling a love for reading within a student is the best feeling in the world!
Some of my students read at their own pace because of a learning disability.
When these students see others reading faster than they can, they become discouraged and are likely to give up. So much of a junior high schooler's life is based on peer perception.
My Project
But, give a student a wireless headset and a novel to listen to at their own speed, and suddenly, a love for reading is encouraged! Students all learn differently. To give those students who are more comfortable with listening to a book the tools to do so is an eye-opening adventure that will encourage deeper understanding. My students need extra wireless headphones and an audio CD library to inspire a love for reading!
Being able to comfortably listen to a novel and discuss it in class will encourage students to not be hesitant to pick up another CD and listen to that one as well, building within the student the love of reading.
