Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My fifth grade students are a true example of diversity.

All come with a unique story and background that encourages us to learn from one another, create a culture of acceptance, tolerance, and most importantly a profound sense of community.

My school is a true neighborhood school, most students living within a few mile radius - most within walking distance. The neighborhood consists of many families of low socioeconomic status and all that that entails. We have an inherent sense of pride in how hard we work to help students achieve. Students truly enjoy coming to school where they feel loved, cared for, and feel successful every day.

My Project

As the world becomes more dependent on technology, it is imperative that I, as a teacher, find engaging and creative ways to integrate technology into our classroom environment. Through the use of these Chromebooks my students will be able to utilize Google Classroom and therefore experience the advantages of an online digital learning environment. With this "digital" environment, students will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of real-time collaboration and have the ability to connect safely with learners around the world.

Students will learn not only basic computer skills such as keyboarding, but also what it means to be a responsible, digitally-literate citizen.

With these capabilities, students will be able to share assignments, resources and documents to allow for student collaboration within and outside of the classroom, as well as stimulating creativity and engaging in new learning.

Finally, Chromebooks will provide my students with the opportunity to be more responsible for and with their learning. They will help my students see the classroom as merely a beginning place for their learning and in the end give them the tools they need to become life-long learners. It's time to make learning fun and exciting again using the tools children so desperately long to use. Please consider a donation!
