Captivate Students and Parents with STEM, Math, and Science Books
My students need books that will capture their attention for our family reading night. Students and parents will have a wide variety of books that are math and science based to read with their child.
We are a public charter school, Title I school, and the majority of our students come from low income to average families. The students receive free breakfast and lunch from school and many do not have monies to purchase their school supplies needed for school each year.
We are a community-based school and have about an 83% Native American population.
We aim to blend learning and culture in our classrooms. Students in my classroom work very hard and come to school eager to learn every day. There's nothing more motivating than to see students walk in with a big smile and positive attitude every morning
My Project
This project is to get more parent involvement in our school and to help parents provide parental support for their child at school. This project will help us create a Family Fun Reading Night once a month. This event will be held at our school during evening hours from 5:30-7:30 pm, and during that time, students and parents will be given a wide selection of books to choose from to read together.
The books are STEM-based, and they are books about math and science.
Students enjoy math and science, but do not typically get to read books about them, they mainly use workbooks for these subjects. So many of they enjoy reading, math and science, this fun-filled family event will allow students and parents to read fun and exciting books together!
Nearly all students from low‑income households
