This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"I don't use technology in my classroom because it is a buzzword or trend. I use it because connecting my kids to the world will prepare them for the future and it is my job to give them the tools they need for whatever that future it will look like."

My classroom is filled with 23 third graders who are excited to explore and learn about the world around them.

Every student has different interests, different backgrounds, and different learning needs. One thing that brings them all together is their love of learning and exploring. Our diversity allows us to learn not only from the curriculum but from each other, making every experience and every day a learning opportunity. As eager third graders, the world is ever changing around them. I am here to give them the tools and experiences they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.

My Project

As technology continues to dominate our lives, it is imperative that I, as a teacher, find ways to integrate technology into our classroom environment. Through the use of these Chromebooks my students will be able to utilize Google Classroom and therefore experience the advantages of an online digital learning environment. Through this digital learning environment students will have the opportunity to learn the benefits of real-time collaboration and have the ability to connect with learners around the world. They will learn basic computer skills such as keyboarding as well as what it means to be a responsible digital citizen. As a result of the online capabilities, students will be able to share assignments, resources and documents with each other in hopes of continuing to allow the student collaboration, creativity and learning.

This project will flatten the walls of my classroom and bring the outside world into our room.

Chromebooks give my students the opportunity to be more responsible for their learning. They will help my students see the classroom as a jumping off point for their learning and in the end give them the tools they need to become life-long learners.
