Maui is filled with an array of brilliant, diverse, kindhearted children that seek a safe, fun place to grow and learn together. The students at our charter school are exceptionally different. Each young adult reaches out to assist one another when someone is hurting, has their own individual and unique approach to life's problems, genuinely cares and loves to learn and grow, and goes the extra mile to be the best person and student that they can be. The students make me proud to be a teacher, and remind me daily why I decided to work in this profession.
My Project
The materials that I am requesting may not be the average for an English/History classroom-- but based off of my experience at KCS, these supplies will never go to waste. Whether it be a student that shyly walks in my door during lunch, slouched over with the burden of being a teenager, or a dyslexic student that would prefer to paint a scene from Gatsby rather than write an essay, these supplies give me the ability to be a better teacher, guide, and mentor to my students.
Painting, sketching, and drawing seem to be the outlet of choice for my current students.
From previous orders, I have started to notice which supplies my students respond to, use, and enjoy the most. Hands down, the canvas is the most crucial tool I could ask for right now.
The canvas, the paints, the watercolors, the sketching pencils and notebooks, and the wood boards will be used for students that express themselves in art, creativity, and images. Most often, students use the canvas to tell me about a part of themselves that they struggle to put into words.
If you take a look at my previous projects, you can see some of the beautiful artwork that they have created thus far. Please help me give them the supplies to keep producing new worlds on paper.
