My students need acrylic paints, gesso, brushes and canvas because these supplies will give them the opportunity to work in the wonderful medium of painting this year.

My Students

Remember the first time you picked up a paint brush and created your first masterpiece? My students are anxiously awaiting the opportunity to create their own masterpiece in paint. Our challenge is that we do not have enough paint for all my classes to have the opportunity to paint.

My students are in grades 10th-12th, and many are in art class for the first time since middle school.

We are soliciting assistance to buy art supplies in order for my students to have the opportunity to paint this year. Our high school is a high-poverty school with close to 59% of the student body on free or reduced lunch. I have a large number of special needs students that are only mainstreamed into the elective classrooms. We have run out of paint, and my new students will not have the opportunity to paint with acrylics this year without this grant. My students are excited about learning, and the opportunity to complete paintings that they can display around school.

My Project

My students need acrylic paints, gesso, brushes and canvas because these supplies will give them the opportunity to work in the wonderful medium of painting this year. With these art supplies, my students will be able to create works of art on canvas to put on display around school. The students will have the opportunity to share their work with their classmates and receive positive recognition for their accomplishments.

This project is important to me because I don't want my students to miss out on painting because of lack of supplies.

I also want the opportunity for some of the classes to complete murals for each of the subject areas so we can share my students' paintings with other subject areas of the school as well.
