This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from homes where they often live at or below the poverty level. They will be in many cases the first to attend college. They often struggle with English as their second language.

My students are also funny and clever and smart in so many ways.

They have ideas and they want to have a voice in what happens in their lives. They also ask so many interesting questions. They are concerned with the world around them.

They are kids striving to become successful adults. This can be a challenge, but their silliness is often just what we need to get to the next step. We work hard as a team to learn skills that will help us in our lives.

My Project

This iMac will make it possible to teach through distance learning. Currently using an older tired laptop and it holds us back as we journey through our new normal. Lots of good resources and few of them are compatible.

An up-to-date working computer will make my remote classroom come to life.

No more choosing between video and audio. My students interact with videos; slide presentations and discussions through the teacher's computer. Including interactive slide presentations where students are asked in real-time to make comments and answer questions. Some of our content is in video format and they watch and listen through the teacher computer as well. A new computer will give them a better and more fluid experience as if they were in my classroom. It will allow our online classroom a chance to use state of the art apps to help students engage and achieve. The teacher computer becomes the classroom for my students. Students will be able to actually use the zoom whiteboard and show what they know to others. They will be able to do online presentations live during our online class time.

We can look at images, take visual tours, participate in online discussions, and LEARN.
