it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Since the beginning of the school year, I have worked hard to create a classroom culture centered around reading. I want all of my students to experience the joy of not being able to put a book down. In order to engage all of my students regardless of their reading ability, creating a classroom library with diverse, culturally responsive books is essential. I have worked hard to ensure my classroom library meets the needs and interests of all my students, even the most reluctant readers. I hope to continue to grow my library, so all my students can experience the joy of reading!
Over the course of the school year, my students have grown tremendously as readers.
This is in part due to me making it a priority to include high-interest graphic novels in my classroom library. Graphic novels allow all of my students to feel successful as readers. This project will continue to expand my classroom library with graphic novels.
As 5th graders, my students take an end-of-year science test for the first time. For many of my students, science is not something that has been part of their daily lives. This project includes many science graphic novels, which will help reinforce science topics taught in a new and exciting way. My students will have the chance to continue to grow as readers and scientists!
