Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students enjoy a community with long-standing traditions and a rich history. Our school was established in 1915, and our families are proud that multi-generations have attended the same high school. Our school was geared to vocational studies for many years but has since diversified its curriculum to enable and encourage multiple educational paths.

My students understand the impact of education and history, both in honoring the past and creating a bright future for our society.

Although many of my students have seen hardships, they are always eager to learn, curious about the world around them, and want to make a difference.

My Project

This project is meant to provide an incentive for students to excel in history class by providing a personalized face mask for their achievements. For example, students will earn a "I survived the Great Depression" mask when they earn an A (or make marked improvement) on their Great Depression test or a "Got Jazzed" on their Roaring Twenties Test! Students will also be able to earn a mask for their perfect attendance or other special achievements.

Students have the opportunity to earn a personalized face mask based on their achievements in class.

By providing face masks, students are encouraged to keep our classroom safe while acknowledging their hard work. Using a cricut machine, I will personalize the vinyl and use the heat press and mat to make individualized masks for my students. By allowing a multiple ways of acquiring a mask, I hope that all my students will be motivated to earn a mask and be proud of their achievement.
