Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from a low-income area. A large portion of my students have social and financial problems. Most of these students are bilingual and receive free lunch. They struggle to bring in supplies and often struggle to pay and attend events.

My students are good children from low-income families that deserve the tools necessary to help them prepare for their future; with all the obstacles facing my students, school supplies should not be one of them.

They are hard workers who strive to produce work, and lack the supplies to do so.

My Project

My students are constantly doing projects and fun activities. The largest component to a math classroom is notebooks and plenty of pencils! I tell my students all the time, it is okay to make a mistake, that's why pencils have erasers. In math we are always attempting to solve new and more difficult problems. The newest project we would like to do is a station activity. The students will move from group to group solving problems that have to do with the equation of a line (y= mx + b) to master it given a graph, table or word problem. They will use the notebooks to write their work down. The pens and markers are for their partner to use because we like to show our corrections in a different color!
