My Students

My students are hungry readers. They read for pleasure regularly. They are learning the art of reading between the lines to find the author's message but they need to read more to master that skill.

My students love to read.

I have a small classroom library. We have limited class sets of books. Having a class set allows all of my students to read a book at the same time. This is important because it allows the children to have rich, engaging, enlightening discussions. I want them to be able to read critically and to evaluate what they read.

My Project

Do you remember you favorite book? My students need to be exposed to lots of genres of writing, to many different titles and authors to help them figure out what they like best. I want my students to read -- to love reading. I want them to be able to escape the world and to fall in love with the characters and plot of a story. I can only do that if I have good, high interest literature for them to read. By funding this project, you will be giving us two books to read as a class and a third title to be read by our student book clubs. That is an amazing gift.

These kids are college bound.

Yes, it will take them awhile to get there, but in the meantime I want to make sure that they have high quality, appropriate literature to read and encourage them to grow intellectually. My kids need books -- it's as simple as that. I need your help.
