Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year I'm working as an intervention teacher so these kids have to do both online classes with their regular teacher and then show up for group sessions with me. My 30 sixth graders come from low-income families. They are first generation students who mainly speak Spanish. The majority of them live in multi-family homes sharing rooms with multiple siblings. Most of them have a hard time finding a quiet place to do online classes but they still show up with smiles on their faces and ready to learn. They are really happy with just the basic necessities of life.
My Project
Our daily Google Meet lessons can be strengthened with the use of these wireless airpods. I want to make sure our students are being heard and that their needs are being met. After reflecting on the months I have taught remotely, I have realized that wireless headphones will greatly enhance my daily instruction.I'm teaching remotely from campus and there is currently a lot of construction going on.
It makes it difficult to hear the students reading passages or asking questions.
These will also allow me to listen to their responses clearly, eliminating surrounding noises. The construction on campus makes it difficult to hear their responses. This tool will definitely permit our students to hear my lessons clearly and directly. The air pods will allow me to communicate more effectively with my students when we are reading stories, and talking to each other.
I am also requesting the book "Just Mercy" so we can gain more knowledge about racial injustice.
As I continue to teach them the importance of diversity, multiculturalism, and inclusion. This book will help build my knowledge and theirs on the people we represent, and the importance of confronting injustice.
