The students are helpful, kind, compassionate, hard working and energetic. The students love to assist each other with daily challenges that would help strive others toward their very best. Everyday is a battle and they come prepared with their kindness capes and kind words looking to grow personally and build better character.
They have evolved into a strong, supportive, encouraging school family who is there to support each other toward independence.
Many of the students come from environments that are not pleasing and safe. School for many has been a place that has felt productive and positive for them to come into. Each day they're making progress toward a better future!
Sensory rooms can enhance therapy and learning in a number of different ways. They can help individuals feel more relaxed, improve their ability to concentrate and communicate with their therapist or teacher. Over time, this helps them develop a strong sense of empowerment, resulting in heightened confidence, resilience and independence.
Honing these skills can help the students live more enjoyable and fulfilling lives, and this is ultimately what sensory rooms are for: to improve people’s lives through sensory stimulation.
Help children with Autism and sensory issues fund and supply equipment and tools for a sensory room. We would greatly appreciate any grants or donations that we could get to be able to meet the sensory needs for the students. Children who have Autism benefit greatly not only academically, but mentally and socially from sensory input. We are expecting to see these children make great progress by providing these activities and services for them.
The trampoline with handle can help with the built up energy that some of our students have. Many of the students need what we call a movement break sometimes to release tension and energy. The ocean wave projector and waterfall sensory kit helps with calming the students down. The sounds of the ocean and the waves crashing creates a soothing environment that will help the students to get in their calm state. Light is something that students focus on and helps keep them engage. The squishy chair provides and soft comfortable seating option for students. The bean bag can conform to their bodies and eliminate pressure points.
