My students are bright, gifted, and talented. They come every day excited to learn something new. This will be the beginning of their 4th-grade year, in a new class with me as their new virtual teacher. I want to give them a fulfilling and wonderful year of learning in spite of this school year being different from what they know as normal.
My students come from disadvantaged areas and all of them are on free breakfast and lunch.
Often times the school is the only place where they get a nutritious meal. Our children's parents cannot always afford to buy their academic needs such as notebooks, pencils, and other materials that are necessary for a productive school year. Even though they are faced with home challenges and this year the COVID 19 Pandemic, my students come to school each day with a positive attitude and are ready to learn.
My Project
In March, my students and I never thought we would be learning from home for the rest of the year, and now I am beginning a brand-new year with new 4th graders and I want to make them feel like they are right there in the classroom, although we will continue to be learning virtually from a computer at home.
It is so important that they begin the year with items that they would normally use like whiteboards with dry-erase markers to work out math problems or to write out their thoughts.
It is equally as important for them to see me clearly write information they need on a teacher whiteboard with the use of a web camera. Please help me give my students a virtual school year they will enjoy.
