My Students

When we left the classroom on March 13, we didn't realize it would be months until we would return to school. With a global pandemic raging, there is great uncertainty in what schools will look like this fall. One thing we do know is that there will be some form of distance learning for our students, which means my students will learn at least part of the time through Google Classroom.

My third graders are inquisitive and love to read, write, and explore.

They are at a crucial age, bridging a gap between primary and intermediate grades, which means that academic content becomes more challenging. Many of my students are English learners who benefit from visual models and tools to explore concepts. Despite these difficult times in our world today, my students are resilient and ready to learn!

My Project

Our school district is currently set to utilize a hybrid instruction model. Students will attend school two days per week, and learn from home using online assignments three days per week. Some students will choose to learn from home all five days. This means that all students will need to access high-quality instructional material online.

Having access to a document camera and ring light will help me create clear videos with visual supports for my students.

We use a document camera in class all day to show texts we are reading, to highlight great student work for others to see, and to model math concepts. I will need a document camera to use at home as well, as I will need to record lessons for my students to access during remote learning periods. With a document camera, I can model writing, demonstrate how to complete a word sort, solve math problems, and teach close reading skills with a physical text.

It is also crucial that students are able to see me well during instruction. A ring light will provide better lighting during videos and live, digital lessons. These tools will help me make quality digital instruction and ensure my students are successful.
