My Project

As an educator of young learners, especially those who are English Language Learners, I know how powerful visuals can be in the classroom. Anchor charts, picture prompts, and visual cues are more than decorations—they are essential learning tools. A thermal label printer will be a powerful tool to create small anchor charts for each student. Large anchor charts can be hung on the whiteboard with magnets for students to reference. Learning targets and lesson focus will be written on the magnetic lined paper for students to see throughout a lesson. The magnetic sticky notes provide a place for students to showcase examples of work and display them for others to see and reference as a visual.

Visual supports give students something tangible to refer to while they're working and learning.

They help bridge the gap between spoken language and understanding, making abstract concepts more accessible and supporting vocabulary development. For English learners, these tools are critical in helping them not only learn academic standards but also acquire the language needed to express their understanding.

By incorporating anchor charts, picture cards, labeled diagrams, and visual routines, I can empower students to work independently and confidently—without always relying on direct teacher support. Visuals give them a way to remember key strategies and concepts, reinforcing their learning in a meaningful and lasting way.
