Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every day my thirty, amazing, first grade students gather on the carpet for whole group instruction. They are eager to learn and full of wonderful ideas. Together we create incredible projects and explore a variety of topics.

My students are creative and have a passion for learning new things.

Even though they may not always have the best supplies, they show such ingenuity with the limited materials they do have.

The kids in my class are 100% low income, free breakfast and lunch, and about 70% are English Language learners. They have the special challenge of mastering english alongside all of the other important topics.

Using project based learning provides amazing opportunities for collaboration and conversational skills as well as problem solving. I hope to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence by giving them the best educational experience possible.

My Project

For my students that have reading difficulties, these headphones will give them the help they need to be able to listen to text and answer the questions. For some struggling readers, the material can be too difficult and overwhelming. If they hear what is being read with headphones, they can focus on comprehension. For other students, headphones will allow them to focus on what they need to move ahead in their learning. Headphones will allow them to stay focused on their own learning while working on our district reading programs. These headphones are the tool they need to reach the next level in reading and math.
