Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My school is a "Title I" middle school serving 700+ students. I teach Theatre Arts to each grade (6-8) level. The majority of my students come from low income homes and many speak a second language. But, none of this matters when it comes to the combination of Acting, Performing and Having Fun!!
I teach my students how to properly use and project their voices. The problem is when the students finally build-up the confidence to perform after days and weeks of preparation no one can hear them past the fifth row when the auditorium is full. However, because of budget cuts, we have no funds for a Wireless Microphone System.
Some teachers who bring their classes to see our shows have complained about the “unintended” pantomimes. Other audience members understand the situation but they deserve to hear us. Therefore, the wireless microphones are vital to our performances.
If you choose to support us, you would be allowing my students to adequately show off the hard work they have put into each piece. For many of my students, acting is the one thing they excel at. Therefore, I am eager to build an excellent theatre program which meets the needs of so many students who might otherwise fall through the cracks. Consequently, I am requesting donations for lavalier bodypack microphones to enhance my students theatrical performances.
