Help me give my students the ability to differentiate their learning! Having a classroom set of headphones allows for different students to have some class time to learn at a level that meets their needs.

My Students

Do you remember being a middle schooler? It's not a stress-free environment to say the least. To add to it, my 7th grade students haven't had a "normal" school year since they were in 4th grade. The resilience and hard work I have seen out of these kids has been inspiring. There has been so much inconsistency and change in their lives, and they have overcome it all. They are persisting and growing and learning through it all.

My Project

With access to a classroom set of headphones, I can add opportunities for intervention and differentiation. COVID-19 created a huge increase in students absences, which, of course, led to learning gaps. As most people know, missed school=missed learning, and in math, it can be really difficult to learn on grade level when skills may be missing from previous years. If some students can work independently on extension or remediation, it creates time for me to work individually with those students that need help catching up on topics they may have missed from any absences related to COVID-19. Narrowing students' learning gaps is extremely important in helping them be successful in middle school math.
