Help me give my students a louder voice during our Morning Meeting sessions and during our 'share out' opportunities.

My Project
Our school uses the “Morning Meeting” initiative, as a way to help students jump start their day in a positive way. Our Morning Meeting has four components: the greeting, the sharing, the group activity and the closing. During the sharing, students are sometimes a bit shy or reserved. Having the ability to catch and then share their thoughts through the microphone ball would increase their enthusiasm to share. Additionally, it will ensure that what was said could be heard by all their classmates within our Morning Meeting Circle.
My goal for this project is to have an interactive piece (the microphone ball) which not only signals to my class who the speaker is, but also allows their sound to be amplified loud enough for everyone to hear.
It will also keep students engaged in the Morning Meeting circle time because they have to be paying attention in order to be prepared to catch the microphone ball and then share their thoughts.
My class is very dynamic. I say this because we have a rich diversity of learners. The make-up of my class includes students that are gifted, those that have exceptional needs, and students that are general education learners. We have students that are very good readers and writers, and we have students that are ‘growing’ readers and writers. We have students that are math wizards and some who are not as confident with their math skills. We have artists, gamers and mini engineers who like to build with Legos. I try to fill my classroom with as many extracurricular opportunities as possible so they can explore what different interests they may have. Each of my students possess their very own unique personality, and that’s what makes us truly special.
