Help me give my students the gift of their voice with Storyworks, ink and a QBall. The QBall allows students to combine reading aloud and answering questions with the fun of catching a ball, that is a microphone.
My students come from environments at home where they are not equipped with technology. They don't have the items that they need to search the internet for information. They go home, change clothes, and they have to play outside until dinner. I want to give my student the opportunity to use technology in a way that they can create presentations and share with the class or even the school.
Technology gives students the knowledge and power of a thousand encyclopedias and the ability to present it to others!
I want to give my kids the ability to experience that power.
The QBall allows them to build fluency by reading aloud. The Storytime magazines are a fun exciting new story every week. The printer ink allows my students to type reports and print them in the classroom. Students do have the ability to connect to the school printer, but I have a printer in my classroom, I just need the ink to allow them to print.
I am all about allowing my students to access technology, but they also have to be able to read aloud on grade level. The QBall is the key to that, I believe.
My Project
The QBall is a throwable microphone! It is a ball that will project my students' voices in the room. I have a student lead classroom and this will continue that! I am so excited to see them bloom with their voice being heard. I think this will allow those students that are so quiet to be heard and they will build their confidence every day! Students that feel supported take more chances and grow that much more! This is a great way to build that confidence. My hope is that using the QBall they will have the confidence to communicate with others. It will also make reading aloud fun and not scary. The Storytime magazines will give them something fun to read. The ink will be used to allow students to print their work.
