Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My kids are a bright, energetic group of young people. They come from diverse backgrounds, military families, low-income, English Language learners and so, face many challenges.
School is their constant, they belong!
I make the class warm, welcoming, and inviting and they want to be in it! They also get to experience changing classes to prepare them for Middle School and I get to infulence three very different groups of 5th graders!
My favorite part of teaching is when students have that "aha" moment, when they 'get' something or persevere. I want them being lifelong learners when they leave me with a love of reading.
My Project
My class is a learnin-loud, flexible seating, move to where you learn best kind of classroom. We collaborate on carpets, we conference at tables, we read silently on sofas, and we work at our desks.
My students often reflect and record their responses to what they are learning.
I get much more in-depth, thoughtful, and insightful answer! But in my room that is often difficult, with background noise, lookie-lou's, and roaming bodies.
The Green Pop-up tent will give my students an oasis away from all the inquiring eyes and the green will allow them to use green screen as an option.
The iPad stands and the noise dampening material will aid in my students being seen and heard in their production.
This equipment will lend itself to helping my students feel more professional in their recording endeavors.
