Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
This year, I am teaching a wonderful group of Gifted Third Graders that are thirsty for knowledge. They are hands-on learners that like to work in pairs or in groups. They enjoy sharing their thoughts and experiences.
My students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds including Central and South America.
Most of the students at my school qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some of my students speak both English and Spanish. Four students are in the ESOL program which means they are learning English as a second language. A few of my students have siblings at home while others are the only child at home. Many of my students have both parents working and are in the after-school care program.
My Project
These materials will enable my students to be heard when making project presentations. The voice amplifier will allow my students to have confidence while presenting and preparing them for real world situations. Many times, students can be shy but the voice amplifier will give them a louder voice for them to be sure of themselves while being heard by their peers.
Also, many times, students spill pencil shavings on the floor, the student gets up to get the little broom, sweep, throw the shavings out and then return the little broom to its cabinet.
With the cordless vac, students would simply get the vac, use it and put it back. This will lessen the time of disruption and wasted time. The students can be on task longer.
Finally, the extra sets of headphones are needed for the laptop computers that are used in class for i-Ready reading and math programs.
