My Students

My students attend school in a low income, high poverty city, where they have overcome more challenges by the time they enter fifth grade than most students. I work daily with these students to create a learning environment that takes them away from their day to day struggles and submerges them into a world of so many possibilities and experiences. I love to incorporate new, meaningful experiences in our classroom.

Many of my students may never leave the city and lack real-life experiences needed to build background knowledge and exciting educational experiences.

These students deserve a space that is comfortable and that they can call their own. They deserve lessons, materials, and opportunities that get them excited about learning.

My Project

I am requesting 20 headphones for daily student use for the technology center in my classroom. Currently we have ordered over 150 earbuds this year and last year and they have become a source of frustration for my students because they break easily and become unusable within a short period of time. The earbuds are not durable enough to withstand 5th graders’ daily use. I am hoping to replace these earbuds with 20 durable headphones for our technology center.

My classroom utilizes technology for every subject area, to have headphones that work reliably would enhance our daily learning experiences.

I hope that these headphone can survive in 5th grade better than the earbuds we currently have. In hope of eliminating a source of frustration for my classroom, these headphones will make a world of difference.
