Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school has over 500 students in grades PK-5. In addition to regular education classrooms, we have a Dual Language classroom in every grade. We are located in the South Bronx. We are a Title I school. More than 80 percent of the students at our school receive free lunch. More than 70 percent of our students are Hispanic and over 25 percent are Black. Our students are at a financial disadvantage.

My class has a group of special students in the school.

They are new in the country and have language barriers, academic needs, and financial needs. They are forming new cultural identities while they work in their English, math, reading, and writing. They work hard every day and they are super eager to learn.

My class needs different ways to get engaged and motivated.

My Project

Nowadays, we are back in school living our new normal. We are together but can't mix. We have to stay in our pods. Help me provide a colorful classroom with table skirts. The bonsai will crown our socioemotional corner bringing calm and nature into the classroom.

We are wearing masks and it is difficult to hear clearly.

The voice amplifier will allow my students to hear me clearly. They will not have to put their energy into trying to listen to my lessons. Instead, they can focus on learning in our happy place!
