My Students

My students are inquisitive, creative, and enjoy being challenged. They love collaboratively working on projects and tasks, but especially love using technology! Using the appropriate tools in order to meet their academic needs motivates them to learn more and allows them to become who they want to be, which is paramount to all of our success.

My students live in a low-income area, within a city district that is in transition. With that being said, funding is limited and used towards human capital and basic supplies.

My Project

Not physically going to school and not having to wear a school uniform doesn't mean that instruction isn't taking place. Times have changed. Education has changed. Parenting has changed. As so, we must change with it. In so doing, students must sit with laptops or tablets in homes with siblings (big and small), pets (barking, chirping, or meowing), parents working, and various other distractions taking place. Headphones are one way to reduce the distractions to our students. They are able to focus better and pay attention to the instruction that is taking place. In addition, many fourth graders have not become fluent keyboarders. Some simply haven't had enough experience or exposure, others may have physical limitations, and still others have used their thumbs and index fingers for texting and typing all of their lives. This is where stylus pens come in handy. They may not be fast and efficient typists, but they can point, poke and tap! This makes getting their work completed with a lot less frustration and a lot more ease. Wireless mice are much the same. Students can use a game controller with the best of them, but haven't had a lot of experience with a laptop touchpad. Wireless mice are simply another way to reduce the frustration and ease the stress of these times of uncertainty and mass change.
