My third-grade students come from varied backgrounds according to the poverty level, ELL level, culture, race, health conditions, religion, etc.
As our school district has approached the philosophy of personalized learning, we have found that there is a need for choices in learning experiences for our students, depending on their needs and interests, as well as giving students options to select what sort of seating and other environmental factors will help them learn best.
Students need opportunities to have both voice and choice in how they will be able to learn and work best. In order to do this, classrooms have to veer away from traditional seating choices and incorporate more learner-centered options.
Our students share a love of learning, genuine curiosity about their world, and the desire to make personal choices about their learning and personal well-being!
They love to have several choices in seating options and opportunities to work together and share what they are learning with others both in and out of the classroom. My learners have been excited and engaged in selecting products to enhance the learning environment!
My Project
Having a large monitor with a soundbar will enable my students to have a high-quality experience when they are both presenting and learning. Learners often share the work they do on their iPads with the whole class. The devices we currently have are outdated and/or damaged, so we have difficulty hearing what is coming from them even at the highest volume.
Having a larger screen and better resolution will make student projects and teacher lessons more exciting and powerful.
As technology has become more integrated into everyday school life, it has become more important to have high-quality devices that teachers and learners can depend on to work well.
