My Students

Imagine hearing for the first time, "I can't believe I finished my first chapter book! Can we read another?" My heart jumped for joy. I work in a Title I kindergarten through eighth grade school, with over 90% of the population comprised of African American students. Due to our high rate of transient population our students are performing two to three years below grade level. I have some hardworking students who are in need of a little assistance to help them reach their potential.

My Project

This novel will help my scholars increase their reading comprehension skills by allowing each scholar have their very own chapter book.

They will be able to take them home each day and listen to the audio version to help increase understanding.

Scholars will be able to following along and make aha moments abut what they have read. Scholars will be able to interactive with the text and add to the rich discussion based on their reading. I can't wait to present this book to each of my scholars. The amount of joy they will have is priceless when they turn the page.
