Our school is a special place for my students! At my school, 100% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I teach a classroom full of amazing kids that have amazing stories. We were learning about goats just last week and one of my refugee students said, "In my village we had goats!". It was a powerful reminder to me that my classroom is a safe and happy place for my students.
My second grader's jump into new projects with a reckless abandon that I envy every day.
In the words of the infamous Mrs. Frizzle, they always, "Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!" A step into our classroom is a step into fun. Each student works hard to be a "Super Kid" in our superhero-themed classroom and the school as a whole. We make sure to integrate a fun hands-on approach to everything we do. These students have big dreams and they are not afraid to pursue them. I am currently teaching the world's future botanists, senators, engineers, and historians.
My Project
Technology plays a huge role in our classroom everyday! I strive to use our Chromebooks in the best way possible. In today's digital age I feel it is important for my class to understand that the internet, when used safely, can be a great tool to help them succeed.
My students are creative thinkers and challenge me to find new and interesting ways to use technology.
We use our computers in so many ways! We listen to reading on Epic books, tumble books, and Pebble Go every day as a part of our literacy rotations. Beyond reading, we use Iknowit, Prodigy, Thinking Blocks, Greg Tang Math and so much more! To make the most of these learning experiences we need headphones so my students can hear and focus on their independent learning.
