Can You Hear Me Now?

My students need the balance chairs to help them channel some of that extra energy they have. Kindergarten students are easily distracted and the whisper phones help them hear themselves as they read independently.

My Students

I co-teach with another kindergarten teacher and together we have 33 students. We have a wonderful group of 5 and 6 year olds that are eager to learn. Some of our students receive extra support because English is not their first language. They learn best with hands on experiences. Some of our students get extra support for academics, speech or language.

Although we did not qualify for Title One funds this year, more than half of our class qualifies for free lunch.

My Project

Did you know that Kindergarten students are full of energy? Their bodies are in constant motion. Imagine a chair that requires them to use some of that energy to stay balanced! Once that energy is channeled into balancing, they are able to stay focused on the task at hand.

As beginning readers, they need to hear themselves read aloud.

Although it gets noisy, that is part of the learning process. The whisper phones will direct what they are saying right back into their ear. They won't be distracted when the students at their table are reading out loud.

My students will make great academic gains reading while using whisper phones as they sit on a Yoga balance chair.
