This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Technology has become a necessary part of education, but it can also be quite loud! I would like to provide my students with headphones so that they can make the most of their computer time.

I will have 25 eager third graders in front of me beginning in September.

Our school is in a large urban school district with 100% free breakfast, snack and lunch programs. The majority of my students are second language learners of English. They come from mostly Central and South American countries such as El Salvador, Columbia, and Peru.

My Project

Having headphones would maximize instructional opportunities in the classroom. First, it allows students to have individualized instruction when they use reading program technology such as listening to books being read aloud, programs that practice phonics instruction, as well as reinforcing learning through games. Technology has also become important in accommodating special education students who might need the text to speech feature on the computer. Lastly, it will provide students with the necessary practice for implementing the Common Core Standards quietly!

Providing headphones to my class would improve instruction and provide opportunities for differentiation.

One student could be listening to books being read aloud and the other could be supported in learning phonics instruction. Headphones will allow my students to concentrate and make the most of their technology time in school.
