This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Have you ever felt scared when you have been in a large group? My 28 students face this fear everyday and have a hard time speaking up in our acoustically-challenged room. While encouraging words help, concentrating on the content rather than volume will better meet the students' objectives.

My 28 students are in a transitional bilingual kindergarten education program for native Spanish speakers.

They are learning the English language through academic and social experiences in the classroom. They are eager to learn and they come to school every day filled with anticipation for what the day may hold. They are learning social skills and values at this early age in school. They are also learning how to be part of a larger social group. They make mistakes, forget to take turns, and sometimes do impulsive things that hurt other children's feelings. They do not understand that this bully behavior can negatively affect their peers. At other times, they also are very caring towards each other, share most of the time, and interact well within our little community. We work on developing these social skills everyday.

My Project

I am requesting materials that my students can use to learn how to share, work together, and express themselves both as individuals as well as part of a larger group. The 4 books on bullying will give the children new vocabulary to express themselves if they are experiencing any type of bullying. It will also be a good conversation starter to talk about bullies! The microphone is a simple vocal wireless microphone that can be used for students as a motivator, confidence builder, and easily passed around for students to share responses. By adding a wireless microphone to my classroom, many opportunities will be added for our students. They will receive chances to be better heard by their peers as well as get additional practice for public speaking. Using the wireless microphone minimizes the use of cords, thereby creating a safer environment for all students.

By donating to this project, you will increase my K4 students' opportunities to express themselves in math, literature, poetry, and music classes.

They will learn about bullying and become proactive anti-bully models. Their teacher will avoid vocal fatigue while using the wireless microphone. The students will have a fun way to share their learning with each other and they will be motivated to become more creative. The students will love to learn about their important new role!
