My Students
Most of my students come from financially disadvantaged homes and cannot afford the necessary technology to help them learn in an in-person, yet social-distanced classroom while wearing masks. Our students engage in hands-on projects and engage in student-led discussions on a daily basis.
My Project
My project is based on my goal to motivate students to be presenters/peer mentors, and self-directed collaborators. Please help give my students the technology to help them learn in a socially distant learning environment. The pandemic has greatly affected my students and how they learn. This school year students will return to in-person learning but will have to follow Covid 19 guidelines of mask-wearing and socially distancing themselves.
Having a cart, desk and sound system, which includes speakers and microphones for students to hear the lessons and engage in discussions will enhance their learning experience in our classroom.
By using a microphone and speakers students will be able to share (and hear) their thoughts, ideas, and learn apart while together in this unique pandemic-driven learning environment. A sound system will greatly enhance their discussions and learning in our classroom, and the standing presentation desks will allow both teacher and students to "get closer" while far apart without the constraints of a traditional student desk. These students have been out of the classroom for over a year and allowing them to take turns to stand for discussions will help with motivation and transition from 100% distance learning to 100% in-person social distanced learning.
