My Students
I teach a wonderful group of sixth-grade students in a high needs school in Charlotte, North Carolina. About 60 percent of the students at my school receive free or reduced-price lunch. Many students do not come prepared to class and it is very disheartening to me.
My students come in eager to learn with the materials that we have provided to them.
The teachers at our school go above and beyond the call of duty to make sure every child's need is met. The teachers want students to be successful and ready to learn every day.
My Project
Students need wireless headphones for math class in order to be able to complete given assignments. Many students are unable to have their own and it is very difficult for those students to participate in these assignments. My school is a one to one school where technology is utilized in all classrooms and students are using it for various assignments that require students to listen, watch and respond to assigned work. Having new headphones will ensure that all students have the same opportunity to the same resources. I do not want any students to be without headphones. All students deserve to be educated equally. The microphone and power point clicker will be used to provide direct instruction in a dynamic and fun way in order to grasp the student's attention. Yoga mats will be incorporated by providing the students with flexible seating. The fan will be used in the classroom as the room is very stuffy and warm at times. Students feel uncomfortable and extremely hot. The notebooks and erasers will be given to those students who are not able to afford these school supplies.
