My Students
I teach at an amazing school full of diversity. We have over 700 students, over 100 are English as a Second Language students, over 100 are Advance Program students, along with a robust regular education program and special needs program. We call ourselves "The Greatest School on Earth," and we truly are! This school year, I will be teaching a brand-new class for our school. It will be a Digital Literacy Lab which will be strictly project-based learning. I am so excited about this new opportunity! I will get to teach all of our amazing students, either in a group setting, small groups or individually. I am blessed to teach all of our students!
I want all of the students that enter my room to have amazing experiences because they are amazing and exceptional students!
Students that will be in my classroom will be immersed in project-based learning every week and will leave excited about the next week's project!
My Project
I teach all 700+ students at my school. I am often in and out of their classrooms, as well as having them coming down to my lab area. Whether I am in their classroom or in my lab, I need to have headphones that are quick and readily available for all students. Using earbuds is not sanitary. I also can’t afford to buy one set for every student in the building. I’d like to get a class set of over the ear headphones that all my students can use and share. I can also easily and quickly take them with me when I go to their classroom.
This year, as our project-based learning teacher, I’m excited about implementing financial literacy into my curriculum.
After attending a conference on economic education, I have found many online activities, apps, stories, and visual ways to teach these concepts. These headphones would be the best way that each student can do their own individual learning instead of everyone doing it together as a class. They can track their own progress using any of these websites and make their own choices while learning about financial literacy.
My students are often using apps and are on websites that require them to listen to directions, hear a story being read to them or hear what they have recorded.
Having a set of headphones for each student will keep the classroom and lab much quieter and students won’t have to compete for a quiet area to do their online work.
