Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Students are spending a lot of time on social media and not talking with their peers, teachers, or parents. As a result, they are experiencing deep depression. To help address this problem, we are creating a space in my school as a community service space to promote mental wellness. Students, parents, and teachers can come together, talk, and make new connections. They will make bracelets, have water to stay hydrated, and just get to know one another. Any computing device will not be allowed if it is not for adaptive needs. Students will the facilitator of the stress-free room. The stress-free room will be opened according to students schedules. The goals are for the students to help their peers and school community feel more comfortable and able to get through the day on a positive note. The beads, friendship bracelets kits, water, and charms, will allow the students and school community to experience the joy of talking and coming together.
I want my students, parents, and school community to understand that a lot of stress and problems can be solved if you sit down and have a friendly conversation.
This student-led Community Service idea is about building a safe space to troubleshoot how to navigate today's issues.
