This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher, I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world to get to work with 24 wonderful students every day. I work in a Title I school in East Palo Alto, California. My school has about 90% of our students who qualify for free or reduced price lunch. All of my students come from families that do many things to help provide their children with happy and healthy lives. Unfortunately, many of my parents are either unable to provide their children with the proper education tools or are unaware of the proper education tools to help their children.

Many of the families have both parents working multiple jobs or even just one parent active in their lives working multiple jobs.

My kids come to school happy every day, ready to learn, excited about life, and I just want to give them the best education possible.

My Project

Education is changing everyday and my 24 first graders are right in the middle of it. We are transforming our classroom into the 21st century classroom with flexible seating and innovated ways to learn.

My students will continue to grow with a new table that allows for academics, dramatic play, and language skills all in one.

Our classroom has very limited to space and I am trying to use every square foot as much as possible. This Mu Table allows three important parts in a day to become one. For example this table has a removable top. When you remove the top it can become a white board to practice math facts, a chalk board to practice spelling your sight words, world and city landscape to help develop academic language in English, and many more. This table includes 8 different changeable tops that we can use throughout the day. The best part about this time is that it is multi-use. I don't have to have 3 separate areas for math, reading, and language development. This table also includes many more different tops you can purchase to change for the future. I know this table will make a large impact in our classroom.
