Can We Go To The Science Lab Today?

My students need 2 desk lamps, soil, butterflies, and tadpoles to participate in science experiments that match our curriculum.

FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Wolodkin's classroom raised $222

This project is fully funded

I am the science chairperson for an elementary school grades pre-k-6th grade. The school is located in Michigan. I currently teach 6th grade. The school is in a rural farming community. It is a low income community. We currently have no money for any additional teaching supplies whatsoever. Teachers have been purchasing whatever they need to teach. I received a list of science supplies from teachers Our district is not able to purchase these items as no funding is available. These items are needed to fulfill the requirements that the State of Michigan has put forth. We have a wonderful science lab that needs to be put to better use.

One thing that students do look forward to is doing science experiments. I know it is hard for teachers to always purchase materials for 30 or so students. I would hate for students to not be able to do science experiments because supplies are not available. Hands-on activities keep students interest and excites them about learning.

Having these supplies will allow students to be more actively engaged in the learning process. Tadpoles, butterflies, and soil will allow the students to become more engaged in learning life cycles. This allows more in depth understanding of a topic. Desk lamps will allow students understanding of how hot the earth gets near the equator using direct and indirect sunlight.

Your generosity will spark interest and excitement about the learning process. Allowing experiments brings science to life. Reading textbooks only is not always best for students. Doing hands-on activities makes children retain more information which leads to life long learners.
