In my classroom, there are 22 hardworking, bright, caring, energetic students. They come from a variety of backgrounds and family dynamics. At my elementary school, 94% of students fall in as poverty status and 10% of the students are homeless.
The students in my classroom are all capable of learning and are able to set goals, make plans and reach these goals with hard work.
My students come to school everyday because they are motivated and eager to learn. I love all of the different personalities and varying capabilities that walk through my door every morning.
My Project
When a student saw another student or a classroom using a tablet to enhance their learning, a desire for a tablet in my classroom soon developed. I want my students to have the opportunity to take a picture of their work and post it on an app where work can be stored over time. Students will be able to go back and view their work as the year progresses. This will also allow for the engagement of parents in my classroom which is crucial to students learning. Students will be able to post pictures and record video in which the parents will be able to view immediately from their own phones. The parents will be more aware of their child's activities which increases learning going on at home.
Two tablets will allow my students to take ownership of their learning and be accountable for the work they complete.
The students in my classroom deserve the opportunity to share and display their progress in the classroom. My students deserve the chance to take ownership of their learning through technology right at their hands.
