First off, my oddball request is for combination padlocks.
My students will be moving on to middle school where they will have two lockers, one for books and one for gym. Not knowing how to maneuver a combination lock is creating a lot of unnecessary anxiety, so I’ve really appreciate a few dial padlocks so students can practice, practice, practice before heading off to middle school.
Now for the good stuff! I’ve chosen a wide variety of hands-on STEAM kits so that my students can explore science, critical thinking to solve problems, follow directions (hopefully) and a add their own creative flair by painting/decorating the wooden kits. I have a female student who is really interested in architecture. I have three boys and a girl very interested in rockets. I have three students who decided to build a particle accelerator apparatus for their science fair project. My list goes on and on.
I consider myself a budding scientist, learning right along with the students. Truth be told, I’m a math, creative writing, art, music, free spirit & explore kinda girl and want to do a better job of enriching students who crave more science than our school district makes time for at the elementary level. These kits will really help me open new doors of exploration and curiosity for my students, while providing me, a budding scientist the structure and starting point to help us all grow and learn.
Once students complete their kits, we will put them in our hallway display cases so that all students PreK-6th can get excited about STEAM, hands-on learning!
