Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students attend a Title I school in Pennsylvania, and all receive free or reduced-price lunch and breakfast. They attend a typical, inner-city school. Most face serious obstacles before they even walk through the doors in the morning. Our goal is to make our school a safe and loving environment.

Our students come from diverse backgrounds and different countries.

This makes our school pretty special in so many ways. The students all work so hard and are very deserving of this project.

My Project

Reading at every age is important but to get children to love reading at an early age is critical. I noticed that in my math class my students were struggling with reading word problems. My solution was to get them to read more. I started talking about books I was reading or read. Sometimes I would even go online and find a little clip. This got a few kids interested. Then I started bringing them books. Well this caused my kids to want to get involved and read also. It would be so helpful for my students to have access to the most current books available. This project will do just that.
