Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Many of my urban high school students long to attend college and will be with those who have used electronic readers for years. By giving my students a chance to experience reading on a device, they will be on more equal footing when they arrive on their college campus!
My urban high school students experience things on a daily basis that we can only imagine.
Despite the chaos they sometimes live through, school is a routine that they can count on. With your kind donation of Kindles for them to borrow, they can get closer to their counterparts when they attend college!
My Project
Almost all of the English novels are electronic along with many of our best sellers. Students who have the option of borrowing a Kindle can choose to read for school or pleasure. The cost of an online book also allows for more purchases throughout the school year, as our budgets have decreased over the past few years. It is imperative that we find a way to still give the students a fair and thorough education!
Students will be able to borrow a Kindle and become more comfortable with the eBook format which they will encounter in the future.
Students who come to the Media Center will learn how to use the equipment in a non-threatening atmosphere and will have a bit of time to become familiar with the technology on their own time.
Students who borrow a Kindle will be able to use their learned technological skills from the first day of college.
More than half of students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
