My Students

When you walk into my Kindergarten classroom, you experience a buzz of excitement for learning. My students come from low-income families where food is scarce, parents work many shifts and are rarely home, and many people are crammed into small living spaces. My students work hard every day to succeed in reading, math, and writing despite hardships they feel at home.

For students who come from poverty, school offers a safe haven where they know they can reach for their dreams and feel successful.

My classroom is the first place where many students have experiences in science, technology, math, reading and the arts. These are the experiences that help students see their potential and get them excited to learn. I want o ensure my students have the best resources to make their dreams a reality. They can achieve so much with your help!

My Project

Technology have changed drastically in the past 20 years. Today's students come to the classroom with more experience and comfort with technology that most teachers. Technology has also permeated careers of today and the future. Careers in coding have skyrocketed leading to careers in software programming and web development. Traditional classrooms are not ready to support these careers. Classrooms, such as mine, need more materials to bring the world of coding to students.

My students need Botley Robots and an Accessory Set to explore the world of coding and gain experience coding a robot to complete a task.

Through coding, students will learn many skills. Students will learn how to plan a series of steps to have Botely complete a task such as knock down dominoes or push a ball down a ramp. As students gain experience, they will build critical thinking and problem-solving skills as they trouble shoot the correct coding. Through collaboration and communication, students will learn the art of coding and see the world of possibilities coding has for their future.
