This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students ahave been in a dual immersion program since Kindergarten, where they learned 90% in Spanish. English instruction increased as they go up the grades. They know more Spanish than English at this point. Starting in 4th grade, they learn 50% in English and 50% in Spanish. This is a terrific program but there are also some areas that need more attention.

In order for them to understand concepts in English, I need to give them visual examples, hands-on projects, and reference materials.

This will allow them to discuss and connect to what they've already learned in Spanish. This requires more paper copies than usual and my supplies are low.
