This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Do you ever see a piece of candy wrapper on the ground and walk right past it? Plastic trash is so prevalent in our everyday lives that we simply stop “seeing” it. This year, my advisory class and I are taking an initiative against litter and doing a campus clean-up every week.

Trash pickers help create and maintain a litter-free campus.

A clean school not only provides a welcoming atmosphere for students and staff but also instills a sense of pride and ownership of our shared space. By keeping our campus clean, we teach our students the value of environmental stewardship and show them the importance of caring for the world around them.

Through campus clean-up, I hope to foster a culture of responsibility and respect for our environment. Every piece of trash picked up is one removed from our rivers and our oceans.

My advisory students are happy to help out during campus clean-up. They enjoy being with their friends and having a shared goal of cleaning the campus. They just need some trash pickers in their hands and they’re ready to work!
